We Are Lady Parts return to the stage for C4, Peacock
For those about to rock, here’s the first look at season two of We Are Lady Parts, coming to Channel 4 and Peacock in the US in May.
Anjana Vasan (Black Mirror) returns as Amina Hussain, who was recruited to be the unlikely lead guitarist of Muslim punk band Lady Parts in season one, alongside Saira who is played by Sarah Kameela Impey (Vera), Juliette Motamed (Halo) as Ayesha, Faith Omole (An Ideal Husband) as Bisma and Lucie Shorthouse (Henpocalypse!) as Momtaz, who completes the band.
There are also cameos from Malala Yousafzai, education activist and co-founder of the Malala fund, and Meera Syal (The Kumars at No 42, Goodness Gracious Me).
Season two finds the band return with a renewed artistic mission after the high of their first UK tour, only to find a rival band threatening their delicate status quo. But as the reality of chasing success sets in, Lady Parts embarks on recording their first album, juggling personal ambitions and questioning whether ‘making it big’ is really what they want…
