Tom Hiddleston returns as The Night Manager
Tom Hiddleston will reprise his leading role in The Night Manager after the BBC and Prime Video ordered two new seasons of the drama, which first aired in 2016.
Inspired by the characters in John le Carré’s novel of the same name, Hiddleston returns as Jonathan Pine as the story picks up eight years after the season one finale.
That first season introduced Pine, the night manager of a Cairo hotel and former British soldier, who is recruited by a Foreign Office task force investigating illegal arms sales to infiltrate the inner circle of arms dealer Richard Roper.
Filming is due to begin later this year, with The Ink Factory (The Little Drummer Girl) producing once again in association with Character 7, Demarest Films and 127 Wall, and in coproduction with Spanish partner Nostromo Pictures.
The Night Manager will once again be written by series creator David Farr. Georgi Banks-Davies (I Hate Suzie, Paper Girls) is attached to direct all six episodes of season two. Stephen Garrett will return to lead the production of the series.
Hugh Laurie (All The Light We Cannot See), who co-starred in the first season as Roper, will be an executive producer on the upcoming seasons.
Additional executive producers include Farr, Banks-Davies and Hiddleston; Character 7’s Garrett; Joe Tsai and Arthur Wang for 127 Wall; Stephen and Simon Cornwell, Michele Wolkoff and Tessa Inkelaar for The Ink Factory; Adrián Guerra for Nostromo Pictures; William D Johnson for Demarest Films, Nick Cornwell, Susanne Bier, Chris Rice for Fifth Season and Gaynor Holmes for the BBC.
The new episodes will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and, outside of the UK, globally on Prime Video. Fifth Season is handling global distribution.
