Filming is underway on German drama Hundertdreizehn, an ensemble series that centres on the stories of six people connected by a catastrophic traffic incident.

When a coach veers into the opposite lane of an inner-city, multi-lane elevated highway, it carves a path of destruction through oncoming traffic.

One storyline then follows the trio of investigators (played by Lia von Blarer, Robert Stadlober, David Hugo Schmitz) in their search for the cause of the accident and the fate of the relatives (Anna Schudt, Patricia Aulitzky) of the bus driver (Felix Kramer).

Each episode also focuses on the personal story of a different main character (Armin Rohde, Friederike Becht, Max von der Groeben, Vladimir Korneev, Cornelius Obonya, Antonia Moretti, and others) affected by the incident, resulting in a multi-perspective view of the bus crash and its far-reaching consequences, turning the traffic accident into a parable representing the unpredictable nature of life.

The series is based around the statistic from the German Bundesverkehrsministerium (Federal Ministry of Transport) that on average, 113 people’s lives are changed forever by a single event.

Filming on the six-part series, which has been commissioned by Germany’s ARD and ORF in Austria, began in Vienna at the end of June. Additional shooting is taking place in Cologne and Berlin, with broadcaster set for autumn 2025.

It is directed by Rick Ostermann (Das Boot), with scripts by Arndt Stüwe (Im Abgrund), who also conceived the idea for the series and developed it together with executive producer Dirk Eggers and Elke Kimmlinger (WDR).

Hundertdreizehn is a Windlight Pictures production, coproduced by Satel Film and commissioned by WDR and ARD Degeto Film for ARD and ORF. Executive producers are Moritz Polter, Dirk Eggers, and Heinrich Ambrosch, co-executive producer Cosima Degler and producer Herwig Krawinkler.

It is distributed by ITV Studios.
