Netflix rolls cameras on Wednesday season two
Filming is underway on the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday, with Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Thandiwe Newton, Joanna Lumley and Addams Family film star Christopher Lloyd joining the cast.
Based on the classic Addams Family characters, the series continues to follow the supernatural mysteries of Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy, Jenna Ortega returns as the title character – a part-time detective, part-time mystery author and full-time outcast.
Emma Myers (Enid), Joy Sunday (Bianca), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax) and Victor Dorobantu (Thing) also return.
Meanwhile, Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams) and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago) have all become series regulars, with Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) also returning in guest starring roles.
Joining the cast are Buscemi (as Barry Dort), Piper (Capri), Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor.
New guest stars include Lloyd, Lumley (Grandmama), Thandiwe Newton (Dr Fairburn), Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamowill.
Lloyd played Fester in 1991 feature The Addams Family and its 1993 sequel Addams Family Values.
In season one, Wednesday enrolls in Nevermore Academy and finds herself in the middle of an otherworldly conspiracy. The ending leaves Wednesday poised to meet her fair share of adversaries in season two.
Filming in Ireland, the season two premiere will be titled Here We Woe Again and is written by co-showrunners Miles Millar and Al Gough, and directed by Tim Burton.
Burton continues his role as director and executive producer. Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson also direct.
Ortega, Millar and Gough are executive producers with Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Tommy Harper, Karen Richards, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman and Meredith Averill.
The series is produced by MGM Television.
