TRAILER: Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks and House of the Dragon star Paddy Considine head the cast of Sky “dramatic comedy” Small Town, Big Story, created and directed by Chris O’Dowd. It will launch next month.

The six-part series is set in Drumbán, a rural town on the border of Ireland and another world. When a Hollywood TV production rolls into town, it shines a spotlight on a secret that has been hidden since the eve of the Millennium.

Wendy Patterson (Hendricks), a local girl who found success as a TV producer in LA, returns to Drumbán after more than 20 years, having left under something of a cloud. Back in the chaotic microcosm of Drumbán, this time with a film crew in tow, Wendy is caught between her past and her epic new production.

Séamus Proctor (Considine) is the local doctor, a respected pillar of the community. He has a neat and well-ordered life, or at least he thinks he does. Soon he will find himself in the eye of a storm as a celluloid circus descends, which threatens to blow open a secret he has been harbouring since the Millennium.

The cast also includes Eileen Walsh (Catastrophe) stars as Catherine Proctor, Séamus’ wife and local schoolteacher; Leia Murphy (Fair City) and David Rawle (Moone Boy) as siblings Joanne and Sonny Proctor; Patrick Martins (The Confessions of Frannie Langton) as Jules O’Brien; Evanne Kilgallon (Obituary) as Shelly McGoldrick; Andrew Bennett (The Quiet Girl) as Barry Battles; and Ruth McCabe (Aisha) as Betty Battles.

They are joined by David Wilmot (The Alienist) as Keith McCurdle; Michèle Forbes (Omagh) as Barbara the Butcher; Sam C Wilson (House of The Dragon) as Big Jim; Peter McGann (The Apprentice) as Matt Magee; Ruth Codd (The Midnight Club) as Production Peggy; Jamie Michie (Game Of Thrones) as Pubba McGoldrick; Ian McElhinney (The Split) as Reverend Patterson; Clarke Peters (The Wire) as Chet Donald; Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric Awesome Show) as Brad. O’Dowd cameos as Jack E McCarthy.

The series is produced by Playground, FilmNation Entertainment and HotCod Productions in association with Sky Studios. Executive producers are Scott Huff and Colin Callender for Playground; Glen Basner, Milan Popelka and Stefanie Berk for FilmNation Entertainment; and Alex Moody for Sky Studios. Hendricks and O’Dowd are executive producers, Liz Gill is series producer and directors include O’Dowd, Catherine Morshead, Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman.

NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution is handling international sales.

Small Town, Big Story will premiere on Thursday, February 27 on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK and Ireland.
