FIRST LOOK: Iain Glen, Martin Compston and Emily Hampshire return for the second season of The Rig, the Prime Video thriller that first debuted in 2023.

Following the events of season one, helicopters have taken the surviving crew of the Kinloch Bravo to a new secret offshore facility called the Stac, nestled deep in the extraordinary and deadly landscapes of the Arctic Circle.

Here, the trapped crew must deal with the emotional and physical fallout of the devastating tsunami that destroyed the Bravo, and contend with swirling conspiracies, corporate conflicts, and new threats from the dark depths of the world’s ocean.

The cast also includes Rochenda Sandall, Owen Teale, Mark Addy, Molly Vevers, Abraham Popoola, Nikhil Parmar and Stuart McQuarrie, alongside new faces Ross Anderson, Phil McKee, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Johannes Roaldsen Fürst and Alice Krige.

Filmed at First Stage Studios in Edinburgh, the six-part season two is produced by Wild Mercury Productions, written by David Macpherson & Meg Salter (episode four) and directed by John Strickland (Line of Duty, Bodyguard) and Alex Holmes (The Letter for the King).

The executive producers are Derek Wax, David Macpherson, and John Strickland. The series producer is Suzanne Reid, and the co-producer is Matt Brown.

Season two will launch on Prime Video in January 2025.
