TRAILER: Paramount+ will launch The Road Trip, an adaptation of Beth O’Leary’s novel of the same name, in the UK, Canada and Australia on December 26.

Described as a witty, contemporary, emotionally complex romantic comedy about giving love another shot, the series follows Addie and her sister Deb on a road trip to a friend’s wedding in Spain. When they are forced to offer a ride in their campervan to Addie’s ex Dylan, his irrepressible best friend Marcus and complete stranger Rodney, the group must confront their buried history as secrets and revelations cause many a bump in the road.

The teaser trailer and first images show Emma Appleton as the spirited Addie, Laurie Davidson as soulful Dylan and David Jonsson as the self-assured Marcus. In addition, Isabella Laughland plays Addie’s straight-talking sister Deb, and Angus Imrie is eccentric ride-along Rodney.

Cutting between the past and present, flashbacks revisit Addie and Dylan’s intoxicating love affair two years earlier, which started as a heady holiday romance. The journey to the wedding then proves to be an unforgettable ride as everyone in the van has one question on their lips – what exactly was the real reason behind Addie and Dylan’s breakup?

The Road Trip is written and created for television by Ryan O’Sullivan and Matilda Wnek (Vigil), with China Moo-Young (Everything I Know About Love) as lead director. It is executive produced by Miriam Brent, Eleanor Moran and Rory Aitken for 42 in association with PTIS, the international studio division of Paramount Global.

The Road Trip is the second Beth O’Leary adaptation by Paramount+ and 42, following The Flatshare in 2022.
