FIRST LOOK: Iria del Río (El Inmortal) and Francesco Carril (Galgos) star in Spanish romantic drama Los Años Nuevos (The New Years), which is coming soon to streamer Movistar Plus+.

Created by Sara Cano, Paula Fabra and director Rodrigo Sorogoyen, the series shows the life journey of a couple – del Río’s Ana and Carril’s Oscar – over the course of a decade, with 10 episodes that revolve around the same moment: the turn of the year.

Sorogoyen, who is also executive producer of the series, directs four of the 10 episodes that make up the story. The other six episodes are directed by Sandra Romero (Where The Silence Passes) and David Martín de los Santos (That Was LIfe). Marina Rodríguez Colás and Antonio Rojano are also involved in the script.

Filmed in various locations in the Madrid region, Castilla-La Mancha, Lyon and Berlin, the series will have its world premiere out of competition at this year’s Venice Film Festival, where the series will air in full, divided into two parts.

The New Years is a Movistar Plus+ original series in collaboration with Caballo Films and in association with ARTE France that will be distributed internationally by Movistar Plus+ International.
