Masterpiece PBS debuts Maigret

FIRST LOOK: Here’s Benjamin Wainwright (Belgravia: The Next Chapter) as Parisian Chief Inspector Jules Maigret ahead of the launch of Masterpiece PBS’s upcoming series Maigret.

Described as the first contemporary television adaptation of George Simenon’s beloved detective novels, the series reframes Maigret as an unconventional young detective with something to prove, a rising star in the Police Judiciaire, relentless in his investigations, with an uncanny ability to get under the skin of the criminals he is chasing and an unmatched knowledge of Paris and its inhabitants.

It is produced by Playground (Wolf Hall, All Creatures Great & Small) for Masterpiece, in association with Windhover Films and George Simenon Limited. Patrick Harbinson is the showrunner, with Tim Whitby series producing.

International distribution will be handled by Banijay Rights.

A premiere date on Masterpiece will be announced in due course.
