Making accusations
Accused executive producers Howard Gordon and Glenn Geller explain why this Fox anthology series is more than a courtroom drama.
Based on Jimmy McGovern’s BBC series of the same name, Accused tells 15 individual stories set within the US criminal justice system.
Beginning in the courthouse and ending with a verdict, each episode explores the lives of those in the dock and how they ended up there.
In this DQTV interview, executive producers Howard Gordon – who is also the series showrunner – and Glenn Geller reveal why they were drawn to the original series, the task of telling complete stories in just 43 minutes and how they have leaned into stories set across class, race and gender boundaries.
They also talk about how they developed the series during the Covid-19 pandemic, and why they want each story to deliver an emotional connection with the audience.
Accused is produced by Fox Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television for the Fox network, and distributed by Sony.
