FIRST LOOK: Keeley Hawes and Paapa Essiedu have started filming Falling, a love story written by Jack Thorne (Adolescence, Help) coming soon to Channel 4.

Hawes (Scoop, Miss Austen) plays Anna, a devoted nun, and Essiedu (Black Mirror, The Lazarus Project) is David, a Catholic priest. Both are deeply committed to their work in the church and in their community.

Neither are expected to fall in love. But when they do, both are forced to wrestle with what it means for them, their vows, and their relationship with God.

The cast also includes Rakie Ayola (The Pact), Jason Watkins (Coma), Niamh Cusack (The Virtues), Adrian Scarborough (Gavin & Stacey), David Dawson (My Policeman), Susan Brown (Mr Bates vs The Post Office), Sandra Voe (Howards End) and TV newcomers Holly Rhys and Shayde Sinclair.

Described as a witty, moving, contemporary romantic drama, Thorne’s first ever love story is directed by Peter Hoar (It’s A Sin). The six-part series is produced by The Forge Entertainment (National Treasure, The Buccaneers) and distributed by Banijay Rights.

Filming is taking place in Wales and Bristol.

Falling is executive produced by George Ormond, George Faber and Jack Thorne. Joe Donaldson (Cobra, Ripper Street) is the producer.
