Keeley Hawes, Freddie Highmore face The Assassin for Prime Video

FIRST LOOK: Keeley Hawes (Miss Austen) and Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor) star in The Assassin, a new action-packed series for Prime Video from the makers of The Tourist and Boat Story.

Set against the idyllic backdrop of a remote Greek island, the images see retired assassin Julie (Hawes) and her estranged son Edward (Highmore) as they are forced to work together in a fight for survival. Amid questions around Edward’s paternity and Julie’s dangerous past catching up with her, the pair are forced to flee the island and go on the run together.

Alongside Hawes and Highmore, who are also executive producers, The Assassin features Gina Gershon (Riverdale), Shalom Brune-Franklin (The Tourist), Jack Davenport (The Morning Show), Alan Dale (Dynasty), Gerald Kyd (The Swarm), Devon Terrell (Totally Completely Fine), Richard Dormer (Blue Lights) and David Dencik (The Ipcress File).

Coming soon to Prime Video in the UK & Ireland, the six-part series is produced by Two Brothers Pictures (The Tourist, Boat Story, Fleabag) in association with Germany’s ZDF, distributor All3Media International, and Stan in Australia.

It is written and created by Harry and Jack Williams (The Tourist, Boat Story, The Missing) with Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve, Sweetpea), Hamish Wright (Significant Other) and Selina Lim (Sex Education) also writing.

Sarah Hammond (The Tourist, Boat Story), Daisy Mount (Wilderness, The Rig) and Alex Mercer (The Tourist, Inside Man) are executive producers for Two Brothers Pictures. Ducker and Wright are also EPs. Nige Watson (One Day) is producer with Lisa Mulcahy (The Tourist) directing episodes 1-3 and Daniel Nettheim (The Tourist) directing episodes 4-6.

Kelly Valentine Hendry (Bridgerton) and Jessica Mescall (Mary & George) are casting directors. Faliro House Productions is the Greek service company.
