
ITV appoints Gemma Arterton for Secret Service
FIRST LOOK: Gemma Arterton takes the lead in Secret Service, a political thriller based on Tom Bradby’s novel of the same name that is set to launch on ITV and STV in 2026.
Described as suspenseful, timely and cinematic, Secret Service follows senior MI6 officer Kate Henderson (Arterton) as a covert investigation uncovers evidence that a high-ranking UK politician may be working as a Russian asset. With trust shattered and her career on the line, Kate must navigate the shifting sands of political loyalty, international threat, and personal sacrifice.
The cast also includes Rafe Spall, Alex Kingston, Mark Stanley, Roger Allam, Amaka Okafor, Aoife Hinds, Avi Nash, Alma Prelec and Khalid Abdalla,
Filming in Valletta, Malta, before shifting to London, the five-part series is produced by Potboiler Productions. James Marsh (Man on Wire) directs scripts written by ITV News anchor Bradby and Jemma Kennedy.
It is executive produced by Gail Egan (Funny Woman, A Most Wanted Man) and Andrea Calderwood (The Buccaneers, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind).
All3Media International is handling global distribution of the drama, which will premiere on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player in 2026.
