David Harewood steps out as Channel 4’s Pierre
FIRST LOOK: David Harewood stars alongside Michele Austin and Jason Flemyng in Pierre, a Channel 4 legal drama now filming in West London.
Pierre is a West London duty solicitor and a force of nature: charming and funny, juggling the pressures of his job, a fragile personal life and just keeping his head above water financially. His resilience is tested when he begins investigating the suspicious death of a young black client, Michael. As Pierre challenges the police’s portrayal of Michael as a criminal, he unravels a chilling web of institutional corruption.
Harewood (Sherwood) plays the title character, with Austin (Hard Truths) as Charlotte Manners, Pierre’s joint managing partner of their solicitor’s firm, and Flemyng (Pennyworth) as Pierre’s best friend DS Ronnie Miller.
Also joining the ensemble cast is Dean-Charles Chapman (1917) as Danny Headman, Nikkita Chadha (Hijack) as Alecia Khan. Christopher Fairbank (Andor) as Sean Lambert, Sara Powell (Last Christmas) as Celeste Jeffreys, Pierre’s wife and Cherrelle Skeete (Hanna) as Brenda Dean. Newcomers Dylan Ennis and Ezrae Maye play Eli Jeffreys and Michael, respectively.
The new six-part drama is produced by The Lighthouse (Scoop) and its lead director is Sarmad Masud (You Don’t Know me, Boarders) with Jo Johnson (Adolescence, 1000 Blows) as producer.
Pierre is co-written by Roy Williams (Soon Gone: The Windrush Chronicles, Death of England: Face to Face) and John Donnelly (Summerwater, Utopia).
Executive producers are Hilary Salmon, John Donnelly, Roy Williams and David Harewood.
