TRAILER: Channel 4 has released a teaser for its upcoming original drama Get Millie Black, which will launch soon in the UK following its debut last year on HBO in the US.

Starring Tamara Lawrance, Joe Dempsie, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr and Chyna McQueen, Get Millie Black follows the inimitable Millie-Jean Black, a police detective who quits Scotland Yard to return home to Jamaica, where she is soon pursuing a missing persons case that threatens to expose more than she may be willing to confront.

Get Millie Black is a deeply personal and wholly authentic version of Kingston, which has never been seen on screen before. Told through the unique perspective of Millie (Lawrance) – a girl born on the Rock, raised in London, who claims to be both British and Jamaican, Millie yet somehow belongs to neither place.

It is a story peopled by a host of unforgettable characters; ‘gully queen’ Hibiscus (McQueen), her brilliant partner on the Jamaican Police Force, Curtis (Eustache Jnr), who is forced to keep his love life secret from his colleagues; game-playing Scotland Yard Inspector Luke Holborn (Dempsie) and Hit Girl (Dorothy ‘Patra’ Smith), go-go-club owner and underworld entrepreneur.

Based on the novel by Booker Prize award-winning author Marlon James, the five-part crime noir is produced by Motive Pictures (The Woman in The Wall).

Commissioned by Channel 4 and a coproduction with HBO, executive producers are Marlon James, Jami O’Brien, Leopoldo Gout and Simon Maxwell for Motive Pictures. Co-executive producers are Tanya Hamilton, who is also lead director, alongside Joshua St Johnston, who also writes on the project. The writers are Theresa Ikoko and Lydia Adetunji and additional directors are Annetta Laufer and Jean Luc Herbulot.
