TRAILER: True Blood star Stephen Moyer partners with Nina Singh (Virdee) in Art Detectives, a new crime series debuting on Acorn TV in the US and Canada on June 9.

The six-episode drama revolves around the Heritage Crime Unit, a police department hired to solve murders connected to the world of art and antiques. It’s here we meet art-loving DI Mick Palmer (Moyer) and straight-talking DC Shazia Malik (Singh), who together solve murders connected to the world of art and antiques, from Old Master paintings and Banksy street art to medieval manuscripts and collectible vinyl.

Each episode follows Mick and Shazia as they navigate a rich and colourful world driven by greed, obsession, lust and revenge. Throughout the season, the artfully astute detectives encounter a fake Vermeer, Viking gold, a rare Chinese vase and items rescued from the Titanic.

Mick also navigates these demanding cases while managing a budding romance with museum curator Rosa (Coupling’s Sarah Alexander) and the sudden reappearance of his charismatic father, Ron (Gavin & Stacey actor Larry Lamb), who just happens to be one of Britain’s most notorious forgers.

Art Detectives is written by Dan Gaster, Will Ing, Powell, Emma Goodwin (episode 3) and Kitty Percy (episode 4), and directed by Jennie Paddon and Declan Recks. It is produced by Black Dog Television, Acorn Media Enterprises, Dynamic Television and Northern Ireland Screen.

The series is executive produced by Gaster, Ing and Powell for Black Dog Television, Catherine Mackin and Bea Tammer for Acorn TV/Acorn Media Enterprises, Daniel March and Klaus Zimmermann for Dynamic Television and Stephen Moyer. Candida Julian-Jones produces.

Dynamic Television is the worldwide distributor, and Acorn TV holds North American rights.
