RTVE, ZDF investigate Spanish-German crime series Weiss & Morales
Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Katia Fellin have started filming Weiss & Morales, a crime series that sees Spanish and German investigators solving crime in the Canary Islands.
The procedural series stars Silvestre as Spanish Civil Guard sergeant Raúl Morales and Fellin as German BKA agent Nina Weiss, who come together to investigate a crime that affects the German community living in the islands.
It’s a collaboration neither enjoys, however, until they ultimately find a way to crack the case in each episode despite their very different characters and methods of investigation.
The cast also includes Juanjo Puigcorbé, Mariam Hernández, Margarita Broich, Thomas Heinze, Tania Santana, Yaiza Guimaré, Saulo Trujillo, Luifer Rodríguez and Iria Santana.
The four-part series is coproduced by Spanish broadcaster RTVE and Germany’s ZDF, producers Portocabo, Nadcon and distributor ZDF Studios.
Oriol Ferrer (Entrevías) directs, with Alfonso Blanco from Portocabo (Rapa, Hierro) and Peter Nadermann from Nadcon (The Bridge, The Killing) executive producing. Nina Hernández, Carlota Dans and Ron Markus head the Spanish-German writing team.
The series will be filmed in various locations across the Canary Islands, with Gran Canaria serving as the main setting.
ZDF Studios will handle the worldwide sales outside of Spanish-speaking territories.
